Prescription Verification
- What is it?
-
This only applies to US customers
We implemented prescription verification system that is in compliance with the US Fairness to Contact Lens Consumers Act (FCLCA).
We will verify your prescription before we can fulfill your order. Customers can either upload prescription in your account portal or provide at the checkout page.
- How the verification process take place?
- This process takes at least 8-12 hours on working days. We will forward your prescription to your optometrist’s office to request for approval.
The FCLCA requires that the contact lens seller must wait for at least 8 hours after initiated prescription verification.
If the seller does not receive a response from the optometrist within this time frame, the prescription is verified automatically, and the seller may process and ship the order.
- What if we can't verify your prescription?
-
If we are unable to verify your prescription, your order will be eventually cancelled and refunded in original payment method. To ensure smooth ordering process, please make sure you have a valid prescription with you.
- What if I don't have a contact lens prescription?
-
You can get an online eye exam with a contact lens prescription from home. The service is offered by VISIBLY (https://www.govisibly.com/).
After you received the prescription, please upload it to your account portal or email to rx@ilovelens.com with your order number - Here's what those abbreviations mean:
-
OD: Latin oculus dexter, meaning “right eye"
OS: Latin oculus sinister, meaning “left eye”
SPH (Sphere): The number indicates the diopter (abbreviated as “D") required to correct your vision. A minus sign (-) in front of the number indicates myopia (i.e. you are nearsightedness). A plus sign (+) in front of the number indicates hyperopia (i.e. you are farsightedness).
CYL (Cylinder): This number indicates the diopter required to correct your astigmatism. It can have a minus (-) or plus (+) sign in front of it. If the cell is blank, it means your doctor has determined you don’t have or don’t need to correct your astigmatism.
Axis: This number ranges from 0 to 180 and shows the orientation of your astigmatism corresponding to the curvature of your eye. Please note that Cylinder and Axis numbers must exist together. Sometimes, the Axis value is separated from the Cylinder value by an “x” (especially in handwritten prescriptions).
